Joe Biden is an abject failure. Kamala Harris is even worse. The Democrat Party is staring down an ominous Republican tidal wave heading into November’s midterm elections. Mostly because of Biden and Harris, Democrats are going to lose control of both Houses of Congress.
The progressive left has gouged away at the core of their party. Democrats are listless and without direction. The party’s only hope is that Republicans totally blunder the midterms, and then present an unknown or unworthy candidate for the 2024 Presidential Election.
Obviously, President Trump headlines any list of potential 2024 Republican nominees for President. After President Trump, there is a short list of strong Republicans, led by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Many insist the 2024 Republican ticket will be Trump and DeSantis. There are probably at least four potential candidates on the Republican list that, with enough momentum, would bury Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, or any other feeble nominee from the left.
Democrats are watching as their party prepares to be buried by a November 5, 2024, red tsunami. So, what strategy might a party that is failing miserably in the eyes of the American people have? How can a party with no direction and no agenda survive?
One way is to try to control the other party’s nomination. It seems Democrats are suggesting the Republicans look to a former vice-president as their candidate. The liberal left is promoting Mike Pence in 2024. Now, a strong conservative Republican would have to chuckle.
Mike Pence certainly falls far from the top of the list of viable Republican Presidential candidates. Some rankings have Pence as far down the list as eighth. Pence has said he will discuss all future political aspirations with his wife in 2023.
Therefore, we don’t expect any earth-shattering announcements from the Pence camp anytime soon. However, there are other far more appealing Republicans should President Trump decline. After DeSantis, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley would prove a worthy candidate.
She would be a worthy challenger to Biden or Harris, or the unlikely rerun of a Biden/Harris combo ticket. South Carolina Senator Mike Scott’s name surfaces as a strong possibility. Depending on President Trump, Texas Senator Ted Cruz could certainly emerge as a frontrunner.
Democrats should also be wary of the level-headed message that former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo can deliver. Pompeo would be able to directly assault Biden’s abysmal and cowardly withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, and even former New Jersey Governor and long-time President Trump friend Chris Christie, are all whispered to be part of the discussion if President Trump does not run.
If President Trump elects to run again in 2024, he will invariably run away with the nomination. In the event he chooses not to, there are a number of solid faces towards whom the Republican Party can turn. Each will be strong enough to defeat the Democrat Party’s field.
However, one of those should not be to the man many Trump supporters envision as a cowardly traitor. Don’t expect Mike Pence to be the 2024 Republican nominee for President of the United States, despite how badly Democrats might want him to be. No such luck, Dems.
