NJ Police Finally Sweep Antifa Rioters From ICE’s Delaney Hall After Weeks of Democrat Inaction

Let’s be blunt. When mobs are permitted to assault federal officers, block government vehicles, and scream at law enforcement to kill themselves — all while elected officials stand around doing nothing — you don’t have a protest. You have a breakdown of civil order. And that’s precisely what’s been unfolding for weeks outside an ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey.

Democratic officials at every level watched it happen. Some even joined in. The governor showed up during the chaos. The mayor had been arrested at the same facility last year. A sitting U.S. senator waded into the crowd and then went on cable news to complain about getting pepper-sprayed. Nobody with a D next to their name lifted a finger to restore order — until they had no choice.

From Breitbart:

New Jersey police scooped up the Antifa rioters blocking ICE’s Delaney Hall detention center in Newark, NJ, late Sunday night.

“ZERO tolerance for rioters,” said a post from the Department of Homeland Security after the police arrested many of the Antifa rioters.

Late Sunday night, New Jersey State Police moved in hard. Riot units sprinted at curfew violators, cornered them, and started making arrests. DHS declared the perimeter around Delaney Hall “FULLY closed” and ICE operations “UNDETERRED.” It was swift, coordinated, and — frankly — about three weeks overdue.

The kind of behavior agents had been enduring is genuinely shocking. According to DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, rioters bit, kicked, and punched officers. Agitators — many wearing keffiyeh scarves — physically blocked vehicles from entering or leaving the facility. They screamed through megaphones at agents to “take your gun and shoot yourself” and chanted “every cop, every fed, shoot yourself in the head.” Nine people were arrested in a single night last Thursday alone.

“Assaulting and obstructing ICE law enforcement is a crime and felony,” Mullin stated. “Anyone who assaults law enforcement will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Strong words. But the real question is why it took this long to back them up with action.

Democrat obstruction made this inevitable

Here’s the uncomfortable truth: none of this spirals out of control without Democratic officials enabling it at every turn.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill — a newly elected Democrat — refused for weeks to deploy state police to protect the facility. She visited Delaney Hall on Memorial Day as protests raged outside. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka only imposed a nightly curfew after the situation had already gone completely sideways. Keep in mind, Baraka himself was arrested at this same facility last year during a so-called oversight visit. Real credible authority figure there.

Then there’s Sen. Andy Kim, who physically inserted himself between protesters and ICE agents, got caught in a pepper spray cloud, and proceeded to tell CNN it was “one of the most difficult weeks of my entire life.” The agents who spent weeks getting bitten and kicked might have a different benchmark for difficult.

Sherrill only authorized the state police crackdown after Mullin played the one card that actually moved the needle: he threatened to pull customs officers out of Newark Liberty International Airport. Suddenly, the governor discovered the political will she’d been conveniently missing for weeks. Amazing how a credible threat to airport operations clears the mind.

The rot extends to Washington. Congressional Democrats refused to authorize further ICE funding after the Minneapolis incidents earlier this year, triggering a prolonged DHS shutdown. The reconciliation package that could restore that funding? Stalled over fights about completely unrelated White House spending priorities. ICE agents are left holding the line with dwindling resources while politicians bicker over slush funds.

The left devours its own

Want to know the most absurd part of this whole saga? Even Sherrill’s belated, bare-minimum cooperation with law enforcement earned her zero goodwill from the radical base she’d spent weeks appeasing.

Protesters turned their chants on the governor: “Mikie Sherrill, you can’t run — we know that you work for Trump!” Far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker — who, I kid you not, quoted Mao Zedong during his broadcast — accused Sherrill of “working alongside the MAGA movement.” He compared state troopers on horseback to an occupying military force. This is a man who campaigns for Democratic Socialist candidates lecturing a Democratic governor for doing the absolute bare minimum to enforce a curfew.

Meanwhile, an Antifa “medic” was captured on video near tears, urging fellow rioters to flee: “We need to get out. Please don’t risk your life.” All that revolutionary fervor evaporated the instant real consequences showed up.

This is the lesson that never seems to penetrate the Democratic brain trust. You cannot negotiate with radicals who view any cooperation with lawful authority as treason. Concede everything they want, and they’ll invent new demands by morning.

Order will prevail

DHS posted those three words Sunday night, and for once, they weren’t just rhetoric. The perimeter held. The mob scattered. ICE operations continued without interruption.

The Trump administration demonstrated what conservatives have argued for years: consistent, firm enforcement works. Coddling and hand-wringing do not. The remaining question is whether Democratic officials will finally get out of the way — or keep learning this lesson one arrested rioter at a time.

Key Takeaways

  • NJ police arrested Antifa rioters at Delaney Hall after months of unchecked lawlessness.
  • Gov. Sherrill only acted after the Trump administration threatened Newark airport operations.
  • Democratic obstruction at the local, state, and federal levels directly fueled the crisis.
  • The radical left turned on Sherrill anyway, proving appeasement is always a losing strategy.
