In February of 2020, President Trump appointed Vice President Mike Pence to lead his coronavirus task force.
When announcing the position Trump praised how Pence handled a health crisis in Indiana while he was governor.
“Look at the Indiana model, they have been very successful there,” Trump said. The White House is “using Mike because he’s very good at doing what he does,” he added.
“I know full well the importance of presidential leadership, the importance of administrative leadership and the vital role of partnerships of state and local governments and health authorities in responding to the potential threat of dangerous infectious diseases,” Pence said.
With that, we were off and the rest is history.
One of the many things that have frustrated many Americans is the lack of discussion surrounding personal health.
In July 2020, studies were already showing that obesity could increase the severity of a COVID-19 infection and were even published in the NIH’s National Library of Medicine.
The lack of discussion about this fact has frustrated many Americans who are wondering why there wasn’t a campaign informing Americans to get out and be active. Instead, public health government officials opted to – and still due – lock people down.
A month later, on August 25, 2020, Taskforce head Deborah Birx sent an email to Mike Pence’s office titled, “For Review: Draft POTUS Remarks – Meeting with Medical Expert.”
“We are a very unhealthy nation with a lot of obesity etc — we will never look as good as even Sweden due to our co-morbidities,” Birx wrote.

Task force head Deborah Birx talked about the elephant in the room. But only privately. Shame that Pence chief-of-staff Marc Short kept quiet. https://t.co/r9UWpIssgK pic.twitter.com/oIYg3ciJqC

The email shows the task force was discussing obesity as a risk for high mortality but brushed it under the rug and opted for masks instead.
It appears, that the information never got to President Trump and that allowed Fauci to run wild. Keep in mind, this was all happening during the Republican National Convention and it could have been used to counter the Democrat’s narrative.
Since Pence’s office ignored these facts and it allowed Fauci to run wild.
Instead of a national campaign for Americans to be more active, we got to stay home and wear two masks.
Pence and his staff knew the whole time and they said nothing.
