Biden’s Baby Formula Problem Cracks Wide Open – The FDA Just Admitted Delays Due to “Mailroom Issues”
What’s Happening:
Word is coming out that the unacceptable baby formula crisis was the fault of Joe Biden’s FDA. Even a former Obama advisor said that the problem will persist unless the agency significantly improves.
We know the FDA shut down the country’s largest baby formula plant in February. And, despite being cleared, refused to reopen it. The problem only grew, until store shelves were empty.
And it seems like the problem at the FDA was worse than we thought.
From Politico:
The FDA’s top official will acknowledge a string of failures that contributed to the current infant formula shortages when he faces lawmakers on Capitol Hill on Wednesday.
And they say a whistleblower report alleging food safety problems at the plant, which was mailed in October, did not reach the FDA’s highest rungs until mid-February, despite being sent directly to then-acting Commissioner Janet Woodcock and others…
The testimony also blames “mailroom issues” for the fact that senior FDA officials, including Woodcock and FDA’s top food safety official, Susan Mayne, did not receive hard copies of the whistleblower report from last October.
Really? Mailroom issues? What the heck does that mean?
A whistleblower was trying to raise the alarm over alleged problems at this plant. The letter apparently was sent in October of last year.
Yet the top officials at the FDA didn’t learn about this until February? How is that even acceptable?
This isn’t some third-tier agency from a small town in Kansas. This is the Food and Drug Administration.
How is it that this agency can’t even deliver mail right? Is that an excuse you are willing to accept?
I doubt it if you know at least one mother with an infant. Children have been rushed to the hospital because parents can’t find formula.
This is a crisis that should have never happened. And the FDA is claiming this is the mailroom’s fault?
That is far from an acceptable excuse. Heads need to roll at this agency. But, given the man in charge is Joe Biden, I doubt we will see anything get done.
Key Takeaways:
- The FDA admits that “mailroom issues” contributed to the baby formula shortage.
- A letter from October 2021 didn’t reach top officials until February this year.
- The agency’s failures resulted in a massive shortage, hurting millions of Americans.
