After Freedom Truckers Raise 8-Figure Haul – GoFundMe Cuts Them Off At The Knees, Dares To Shut Them Down
What’s Happening:
We’ve been following “Freedom Convoy 2022.” A group of thousands joined Canadian truck drivers to protest PM Trudeau. After dismissing them as a “fringe group,” the prime minister is now faced with a surging movement. People all over the world have even donated money to help the cause.
So far, they’ve raised over $10 million to help this group continue its efforts. The money is to ensure protestors in Ottawa can afford food and shelter. But, in a move that will surprise nobody, GoFundMe is siding with the crooked establishment. Because they are refusing to give the money to the rightful owners.
From Fox News:
GoFundMe paused the fundraising page for the Freedom Convoy 2022 after it surpassed $10 million Wednesday.
“This fundraiser is currently paused and under review to ensure it complies with our terms of service and applicable laws and regulations,” read a notice at the top of the convoy’s GoFundMe page, as of Wednesday evening. “Our team is working 24/7 and doing all we can to protect both organizers and donors. Thank you for your patience.”
Bull. Since when does this company have a right to block funds donated by private citizens to support another group of private citizens? People voluntarily gave this money to help the Canadian truckers. Yet GoFundMe is “pausing” the fundraiser, claiming they are “reviewing” it.
I’m sure Canada’s government in no way pressured the company to do this!
This isn’t even the first time crowd-sourcing sites have tried to block funds from going to their rightful owners. GoFundMe, Indiegogo, Kickstarter, Patreon, and others previously shut down or blocked fundraisers. Why? Often it’s for causes that conservatives and other freedom-loving people wanted to support.
(This happened with a fund to help Kyle Rittenhouse. They had to fight to get it back.)
It seems the overlords who control all these websites are just as left-leaning as social networks. They claim to champion the everyday person. But when push comes to shove, GoFundMe and others bow to corrupt governments, the woke mob, or cancel culture.
It’s unclear for now if Freedom Convoy 2022 will get this money. These funds could help these truckers provide food and shelter for protestors. It could also ensure they acquire legal council in their efforts to overrule Trudeau’s mandates. But shutting it down is tantamount to censorship.
No private company has the right to do that.
Key Takeaways:
- GoFundMe “paused” the $10 million fundraiser for the Canadian truckers.
- The truckers are protesting Trudeau’s strict mandates.
- Liberal-owned crowd-funding sites have previously shut down fundraisers for conservative causes.
