A fourth-year medical student at Wake Forest is currently under investigation for allegedly abusing a patient because they chuckled at her pronoun pin.
“I had a patient I was doing a blood draw on see my pronoun pin and loudly laugh to the staff, ‘She/Her? Well of course it is! What other pronouns even are there? It?’ I missed his vein so he had to get stuck twice,” wrote a student identified as K. Del.

The comment was caught by the watchdog account Libs of Tik Tok who reposted the comment causing it to go viral.
In the thread, another medical student defended K. Del calling the abuse “karma.”
“Heard this story firsthand weeks ago and seems like people are misinterpreting (understandably from the phrasing). To clarify, the missed stick was COMPLETELY an accident and just seemed ‘karma-tic.’ She is a kind and professional and would never harm anyone intentionally.”

Once the post went viral the student immediately deleted their account and Wake Forest School of Medicine has announced they will be opening an investigation.

After the post went viral many were calling for the student to be expelled and for a criminal investigation to be launched.
