Yesterday, we learned about Whoopi Goldberg’s recent controversy. The famed celebrated was blasted over comments on the Holocaust. It appeared Whoopi was willing to admit her wrong. She even apologized in a post on Twitter.

But the cancel-culture vultures take no prisoners. And ABC is bowing to the woke mob.

ABC News announced Tuesday evening that Whoopi Goldberg, longtime host of daytime talk show “The View,” had been suspended for comments she made about the Holocaust and race.

“Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments…” ABC News president Kim Godwin said in a statement.

That’s a painful rebuke, despite Goldberg’s apology. But, as it turns out, some people don’t think it’s good enough.

Any rational person, liberal or conservative, would admit that “canceling” Whoopi over a foolish comment is wrong. On top of that, she appeared to give a heartfelt apology. That is as much as any of us should expect from a fellow human being. But word is, people inside ABC want more than just an apology and a two-week suspension.

They want Whoopi fired from the hit talk show.

Should conservatives be applauding this? Of course, not. The same twisted cancel culture that has taken down many conservative voices is coming for Whoopi. This shouldn’t be. Yet, we can’t forget how often she encouraged this woke mob, siccing them on conservative figures. If cancel culture goes after “wrongthink” on the right, why not on the left?

The absence of Whoopi from The View, for two weeks or more, could hurt the show. Her star power and personality have kept the show alive for a long time. And if she’s gone, the show might belly up. Her co-hosts seem to think this way and want her back ASAP.

We’d like to say this episode could nip cancel culture in the bud. That after this, people won’t be so quick to turn on someone for saying the wrong thing. But as long as big companies like ABC cowardly bow to faceless trolls on Twitter, that might not be the case.
