Judge Releases Key Interview In Kirk Case
During the fourth day of Tyler Robinson’s preliminary hearing in Utah, Judge Tony Graff approved the public release of a recorded interview involving Lance Twiggs and prosecutor Ryan McBride. The interview is now part of the public record in the case tied to the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot on September 10, 2025, during an event at Utah Valley University. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty, which shows just how serious they believe the evidence is. This is not some political shouting match on cable news. It is a capital murder case, and the courtroom is where the claims now have to meet the facts.
Twiggs Describes Robinson’s Behavior After The Shooting
According to Twiggs, Robinson spent the night of September 9 at their apartment and left very early the next morning. Twiggs said Robinson later messaged him around 11 p.m. on September 10, several hours after Kirk was killed. In the recorded interview, Twiggs described Robinson as acting erratically after returning to the apartment, saying he was pacing back and forth and seemed to be trying to keep himself busy or distracted. That kind of detail matters because prosecutors are building a timeline, and timelines do not care about spin, feelings, or press releases.
Alleged Confession Came With Tears
Twiggs told McBride that Robinson admitted the truth when asked directly in person. “He didn’t go into detail. I just asked him in person if what he said was true the night before, and he said it was,” Twiggs said in the interview. Twiggs also said Robinson began crying and said he wished he had not done it. According to Twiggs, Robinson later said he would talk to his parents or turn himself in. Prosecutors also displayed text messages between Twiggs and Robinson in court, adding another layer to what is already a grim and deeply painful case for Kirk’s family, friends, supporters, and the broader conservative movement.
The Charges Robinson Is Facing
Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder, which is a capital offense, along with felony reckless discharge of a firearm causing bodily injury. He also faces two felony obstruction of justice counts, one tied to allegedly hiding the firearm and another tied to allegedly discarding the clothing worn during the shooting. Prosecutors also charged him with witness tampering for allegedly asking his roommate to delete incriminating messages and for allegedly demanding that the roommate stay silent and not speak to police. A seventh charge accuses Robinson of committing a violent offense in the presence of a child. The legal process still has to play out, but the public release of this interview gives Americans a sobering look at the evidence prosecutors are putting forward.
