When you are an incumbent the odds of re-election are in your favor. At the very least the candidate has name recognition and based on that people will vote for them, but not this time.
Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC) is in denial as he realizes his primary hopes are going up in smoke.
During an interview with ABC News, Rice was hesitant to say he would support McCarthy as Speaker of the House and felt Rep. Liz Cheney would be a “great” Speaker.

First off, Cheyney doesn’t have a prayer in her re-election bid she is currently polling 30 points behind Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman.
It is just as bad for Rice after a recent poll found that he is losing by double digits to South Carolina state Rep. Russell Fry.
South Carolina state Rep. Russell Fry has a double-digit lead on Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC) in one poll as the embattled incumbent campaigns to keep his congressional district, which spans from Grand Strand to Pee Dee, after voting to impeach then-President Donald Trump.
More than two-fifths (42%) of likely Republican primary voters would support Trump-endorsed Fry, a former South Carolina General Assembly majority chief whip, if the June 14 election were held today, according to a Trafalgar Group ballot test of the state’s 7th District published on Wednesday.
The delirium coming from the RINO camp shows that they are furious about losing their power.
Just like Cheyney, Rice voted to impeach former President Trump and now his political career is over.
