In a new rant, Donald Trump urged a House select committee to look into his debunked election conspiracy theories, as the investigation moves closer to his inner circle.
The panel has asked Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA), who is seen as a go-between for House Republicans and the Trump White House, to turn over documents and sit for an interview, and the twice-impeached one-term president has issued a new statement insisting that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
“Why isn’t the Unselect Committee of highly partisan political hacks investigating the CAUSE of the January 6th protest, which was the rigged Presidential Election of 2020?” Trump raged. “Does anybody notice that they want to stay as far away from that topic as possible, the numbers don’t work for them, or even come close. The only thing they can do is not talk about it. Look at what is going on now in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, and, to a lesser extent, Michigan where the numbers are horrendously corrupt in Detroit.”
Trump’s own Homeland Security officials declared last year’s election the “safest in history,” and numerous courts agreed, but the former president demanded new investigations into his baseless fraud allegations.
“But the weak Republican RINOs in the Michigan House and Senate don’t want to touch the subject,” Trump said. “In many ways a RINO is worse than a Radical Left Democrat, because you don’t know where they are coming from and you have no idea how bad they really are for our Country. The good news is there are fewer and fewer RINOs left as we elect strong Patriots who love America.”
Trump will hold a news conference from his Florida home to commemorate the one-year anniversary, a day before he is scheduled to give a deposition with New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office in an ongoing fraud investigation involving his family business.
“I will be having a news conference on January 6th at Mar-a-Lago to discuss all of these points, and more,” Trump said. “Until then, remember, the insurrection took place on November 3rd, it was the completely unarmed protest of the rigged election that took place on January 6th.”
The House Select Committee investigating the 6 January Capitol riots has suggested that former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows be prosecuted.
The select committee said in its contempt findings that his unwillingness to testify regarding the 6 January insurgency is hindering the probe.
Meadows was referred to the US Department of Justice on criminal contempt of Congress charges by the committee, and the entire House of Representatives will vote on the proposal on December 14th.
Members of the committee published messages between Meadows and Donald Trump Jr., Fox News stars, and others on Monday, suggesting that they pressured him to get Trump to intervene in the rioting in real- time. On Tuesday, US Representative Liz Cheney released more texts, and US Senator Lindsey Graham said he spoke with Ivanka Trump to relay a message to her father, pushing him to “tell his people to leave.”
Meadows, who is facing treasonous charges, accused congressional Democrats of attempting to “weaponize” the material he previously offered the committee.
The newly released text messages also revealed that Donald Trump Jr., along with Fox News stars like Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, begged White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to get the president to make a national address and end the Capitol riot.
“He’s got to condemn this shit ASAP,” Donald Trump Jr. texted Meadows. “The Capitol Police tweet is not enough.”
“I’m pushing it hard. I agree,” Meadows responded.
“We need an Oval Office address. He has to leave now. It has gone too far and gotten out of hand,” the president’s son responded.
An assistant to Donald Trump Jr. refused to comment on the newly revealed discussion, one of many with Meadows read aloud at the meeting by Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), a member of the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 violence. According to Cheney, Donald Trump Jr. texted Meadows “again and again.”

Several Fox News personalities also contacted Meadows, pleading with the president to intervene.
“Can he make a statement? Ask people to leave the Capitol.” Laura Ingraham wrote: “Mark, the president needs to tell people in the Capitol to go home. This is hurting all of us. He is destroying his legacy.”
And Fox & Friends’ Brian Kilmeade texted: “Please, get him on TV. Destroying everything you have accomplished.”
The messages were diametrically opposed to what Fox personalities were saying on the air: Ingraham, Hannity, and Kilmeade all suggested in the immediate aftermath of the Capitol riot that left-wing activists were to blame or that America deserved it for subjecting then-President Donald Trump to the Russia investigation.
“We knew this would happen when you had a huge group of people descending on Capitol Hill when you have members of the Trump support organizations and Antifa threatening to show up at the same time,” Ingraham exclaimed on Jan. 6.
“We’ll learn more to the extent that that happened. I’m getting a sense that there’s clearly a big split in the MAGA groups that have come to peacefully protest with whoever is behind this intrusion in the Capitol, which by any account is unacceptable.”
