Student Hailed As Hero After Losing His Life Trying To Disarm School Shooter

We are living during troubled times. Violence has befallen most, if not all, of our major cities. Recently, violence struck at one Michigan high school. Four students died, and another seven were seriously injured, as a deranged Oxford High School student went on a shooting rampage.

Stories have revealed how one of the deceased students was a courageous hero. Despite the risk to his own life, Tate Myre valiantly tried to disarm the shooter, Ethan Crumbley. Tate, a member of the Oxford High School football team, was proclaimed a hero.

Tate’s Wildcats football team issued a memorable tweet to honor their fallen teammate. The team-sponsored tweet said, “He was a tremendous football player with the brightest of futures and was an even better young man off the field as he was on it. We all loved Tate, and he will so very much be missed.”

There are currently over 50,000 signatures on a Change.org petition to name the school’s football stadium after Tate. The petition believes that true acts of courageous bravery are often lost during these moments of horrific tragedy.

In its petition, Change.org believes Tate’s act of bravery must be preserved and passed along down generations. Since the initial outpouring of grief and support for all the victims, multiple charges, including first-degree murder, have been filed against Crumbley.

Oakland Country Prosecutor Karen McDonald has also charged the 15-year-old Crumbley with terrorism, in addition to multiple gun charges. The prosecutor’s office said they were also considering charges against Crumbley’s parents, from whom he obtained the murder weapon.

Hours before the horrific tragedy, Crumbly and his parents, James and Jennifer Crumbley, met with school officials concerning undisclosed disciplinary problems with their son. Subsequently, the deranged teenager went on a killing spree with his father’s 9 mm SIG Sauer SP 2022 pistol.

Crumbley is being charged as an adult. He has been shifted from an area juvenile facility into the Oakland County Jail. The judge ordered the suspected killer be held without bond. Crumbley is facing life in prison without parole.

For those killed by this mentally disturbed teenager, there is no more life. Their hopes and dreams have been destroyed. Hana St. Juliana, 14; Madisyn Baldwin, 17; Justin Shilling, 17; and the 16-year-old Myre are all dead as the result of a senseless act of premeditated violence.

Through the efforts of Change.org and the members of the Oxford High School Wildcats football squad, Tate Myre’s memory may live on. Through his brave sacrifice, Tate most likely saved many lives. As hard as it may be, heroes sometimes emerge from the horror of a tragedy.
