President Trump To Host Angel Moms for Mother’s Day Luncheon at the White House

Mother’s Day in America has turned into a Hallmark marathon. Brunch reservations, Instagram slideshows, bouquets ordered at the last minute from a gas station — we all know the drill. None of that is bad. But for thousands of American mothers, the second Sunday in May isn’t about mimosas. It’s about an empty chair. A folded flag. A courtroom where nobody seems to be held accountable.

These women have been largely invisible to the mainstream press for years. Their stories don’t serve the preferred narratives in newsrooms or faculty lounges, so they get buried — sometimes literally on page A16, sometimes not covered at all. Their grief is inconvenient. Their anger, even more so. But someone in Washington finally decided these mothers deserve more than silence.

From The Daily Wire:

President Donald Trump will speak to the mothers of children killed by illegal immigrants, mothers who lost their children in the service of the United States Armed Forces, and other courageous everyday American mothers during an event at the White House on Friday afternoon, The Daily Wire can first report.

The president will host a luncheon to honor Mother’s Day 2026 in the newly renovated White House Rose Garden at noon on Friday where he will give remarks to a group that includes Angel Mothers and Gold Star Mothers, a White House official shared.

Good. The Rose Garden has hosted foreign dignitaries, treaty signings, and countless self-congratulatory press conferences over the decades. On Friday, it will host the women who deserve it most — and who have waited the longest to be recognized. That alone tells you something about this president’s instincts.

Mothers who paid the price

Among the guests is Anna Zarutska. Her 23-year-old daughter, Iryna — a Ukrainian refugee who was working full-time at a pizzeria while attending community college in North Carolina — was brutally stabbed to death on a Charlotte train in August 2025. Her killer, Decarlos Brown Jr., had racked up more than a dozen prior arrests. He was walking free on no-cash bail when he murdered Iryna. Let that settle for a moment. A dozen arrests, and the system sent him back out.

It gets worse. Federal examiners found Brown “incapable to proceed” due to mental illness just this past Thursday. The state reached the same conclusion on its murder charge last month. A mother buries her daughter, and the justice system shrugs.

She won’t be the only Angel Mom in the Rose Garden. Sabine Durden-Coulter lost her son Dominic to an illegal immigrant in California back in 2012 — over a decade of grief with precious little public acknowledgment. Anne Fundner’s son Weston died after swallowing a counterfeit fentanyl-laced pill in 2022, one more casualty of a poisoned supply chain that runs straight through our southern border. Jaqueline Medina’s daughter Lizbeth, was killed in Texas in 2023 by an illegal alien. These aren’t statistics. They’re women who had to pick out caskets.

The price of service

Gold Star Mother Alicia Lopez will also attend. Her son, Marine Corps Corporal Hunter Lopez, was 22 years old when he was killed in the ISIS-K suicide bombing at Abbey Gate during the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal in August 2021. He had wanted to be a sheriff’s deputy back home. A family tradition he never got to carry on, thanks to a withdrawal so botched it defied comprehension.

Melody Wolfe will be there as well. Her son, West Virginia National Guard Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe, was critically wounded near the White House in November 2025 by an Afghan national who had entered the United States in 2021. Failed vetting. Failed leadership. And another American family left to absorb the consequences.

A pro-family agenda

Not every story Friday will be marked by tragedy. Six-time Olympic medalist Kallie Humphries earned two bronze medals at the 2026 Olympics with her IVF-born son — born in 2024 — cheering from the stands. She’s become a vocal advocate for IVF access, and her presence connects directly to the president’s push to expand fertility options for American families. Memphis mother Dalisia Ballinger, a public safety advocate with “Make Memphis Safe Again,” represents the everyday women fighting to hold their communities together.

Trump is expected to address the Working Families Tax Cut, Trump Accounts, IVF access, school choice, and keeping men out of women’s sports and spaces. That’s not a grab bag of talking points. It’s a coherent pro-family platform, and he’s delivering it to the women who understand its stakes better than any policy wonk ever could.

The Rose Garden on Friday won’t feature diplomats or lobbyists or cable news panelists jockeying for camera time. It will hold the women who raised Marines, who fled war zones to build new lives for their children, who knock on doors in Memphis to make their neighborhoods safer. America has overlooked these mothers for far too long. This president won’t.
