Mitch McConnell Pulls Apart ‘The Big Lie’ – He Claims Democrats Are Spinning Up ‘Anti-Voting Conspiracy’

What’s Happening:

You probably heard all about what the left calls the “Big Lie.” That is the term they used to criticize anyone who has lingering questions about the 2020 Election. Think there were “irregularities” and problems with the last presidential election? Then you are spreading this lie and working to undermine our democracy!

At least, that is what the media has been saying since November 2020. And it seems Democrats in D.C. love pushing this claim around. But Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is not standing for it. And he is blasting Senate Democrats’ attempt to use it to take over our elections.

From The Hill:

A memo from the minority leader’s office on Sunday predicts that Democrats will “try to use fake hysteria to break the Senate and silence millions of Americans’ voices so they can take over elections and ram through their radical agenda,” likely referring to calls by many Democrats to abolish the filibuster in the Senate to pass voting rights reforms.

“Leader McConnell and Senate Republicans have repeatedly stood up to the left and their Big Lie that there is some evil anti-voting conspiracy sweeping America,” the memo added.

McConnell is accusing Democrats of pushing a conspiracy in order to take over our elections. The Republican blasted Democrats for pushing their own kind of “Big Lie,” that conservatives are spreading an anti-voting agenda to undermine our country. Democrats, he says, will use this to spread fear and hysteria so they can get away with destroying the Senate and our elections.

Chuck Schumer has tried to kill the filibuster, a rule that prevents a majority in the Senate to run away with their agenda. Schumer wants to do this to pass radical election bills that would upend our democracy forever. McConnell believes Schumer is using fear of this fake conspiracy to get his way.

It’s clear that the laws Schumer is trying to pass would radically change our elections. They would rip election enforcement from the states and give it to the federal government. The bills would outlaw voter ID laws, making it much easier for people to cheat. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Few Americans would support such drastic changes. Unless, of course, they believe there is an anti-voting movement among Trump supporters and Republicans. That is what McConnell says the Democrats are trying to say, what he calls the real Big Lie.

But it appears Democrats will have trouble pushing their agenda. At least two Democrats in the Senate refuse to kill the filibuster. Others might join them. And it doesn’t seem Americans are willing to embrace the left’s claims.

Key Takeaways:

  • Mitch McConnell is accusing Democrats of spreading an “anti-voting conspiracy theory.”
  • The Republican says the left is pushing the real “Big Lie,” to take over our elections.
  • This comes as Schumer tried to kill the filibuster and pass radical election bills.
