Children often enjoy engulfing an animal-shaped cracker or a funny-shaped snack. When a small kid grabs a bear out of a box of Animal Crackers, you might get an adorable little growl. The same might go if they pulled a tiger out of the bag.
Little bite-sized monkey-shaped treats can also induce an equally charming reaction. But recently, a new type of edible snack has popped onto the market. We’re not sure what kind of sound this little bite-sized morsel might invoke, but a few come to mind.
Perhaps a boastful roar, given that Mike Tyson was often referred to as a “tiger in the ring.” However, no one could be expected to guess what type of reaction someone would give when garbling up a fictitious human ear.
No, we’re not joking. The legendary heavyweight fighter launched a new edible product. Certainly, this latest business idea takes full advantage of a memorable event in professional boxing. We’re just not sure how well it associates with something you might want to eat.
As one of the Mike Tyson–Evander Holyfield fights wore on, Tyson took a bite out of something on his opponent. Tyson bit off a chunk of Holyfield’s ear. To commemorate, we guess that’s an appropriate analogy, Tyson is marketing edible ears.
Now, these are more than just eerie-looking Halloween treats. Tyson’s edible ears have a chunk already bitten out of them. Are you ready for the name given to these interesting little morsels? We need a drum roll for this one, please. These new delicacies will be called “Mike Bites”.
Evidently, Tyson ran his idea by his former boxing nemesis, but no one has heard whether Holyfield is on board with a replica of his damaged ear being the latest snack craze. Both fighters have attempted recent comebacks, each with varying degrees of success.

They’re clearly out to make a buck off their fame. UFC fighter Vitor Belfort actually embarrassed Holyfield. Tyson did better. Fighting on the Thriller Fight Club platform, Tyson climbed into the ring with former multi-weight class world champion Roy Jones Jr.
That fight went the full distance and ended in a draw. It earned a top-10 ranking on the all-time pay-per-view money list. Evidently, aging, retired boxers still have an appeal on a fight card. But we’re just not so sure how appetizing their ears would be as a bite-sized snack.
