Controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene alleges that a DC jail-holding individuals arrested in connection with the Capitol disturbance on January 6 “torture people” and “wants to re-educate them.”
Greene tried to depict the men as patriots by alleging that they draw drawings of the American flag and cry while singing the national anthem every night at 9 p.m.
On Thursday night, the Georgia congresswoman paid a visit to the jail’s “patriot wing.”
“Last night I finally got into the deplorable jail, the DC jail where these people are being held for months on end in conditions as I’ve never seen in my life,” Greene told Steve Bannon on “The War Room” podcast on Friday.
She said that the homeless in Washington, DC, and the inmates at Guantanamo Bay were living in better conditions than those in this facility.
“It’s beyond anything I’ve ever seen and every American in this country should be outraged at what’s happening. I don’t care how you vote,” Greene said.
Despite their objections, an examination of the DC jail on Tuesday found that the conditions were adequate.
“You should be outraged and disgusted that our government has turned into some kind of political weapon that tortures people in jail and wants to re-educate them and make them denounce the president that they love and denounce the country that they love,” Greene said.
Last night, I was greeted by men who never thought anyone would come see them.
It was like they were prisoners of war. They had lost hope and felt forgotten.

In a tweet, she stated that the inmates are getting “virtually no medical care, very poor food quality, and being put through re-education which most of them are rejecting.”
The representative did not go into detail on how the inmates are re-educated.
“They do it every night and they cry while they sing it. And I got to be there with them and sing the national anthem last night,” she said.

“I will not stop until this man and the rest of them are free and this happy once again,” Greene said, holding up a photo of one of the January 6 defendants.
“Yes, they are charged with crimes, yes, they deserve their day in court, and justice should be served. But not justice that comes with a weapon of politics. Because politics is evil,” she said.

She referred to the men as “prisoners of war” and “political prisoners.”
Greene’s office verified to The Hill that she took a three-hour tour of the D.C. Jail’s “patriot wing” and spoke with the accused January 6 rioters.
They went on to say that after “months of requesting access with letter after letter and call after call.”
The divisive congresswoman is known for her irrational political beliefs and proponents of unfounded conspiracy theories.
So far, 691 people have been charged in connection with the Capitol insurgency.
