Leaks out of various departments in our government are always wrong. Recently, the inappropriate leaking of investigations and private interactions has plagued our country at an alarming rate. However, never has such hideous behavior reached America’s highest court.
The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) is supposed to be the single-most non-political branch of our government. It has gradually lost that essential quality. While the justices themselves consider case-by-case evidence without bias, the court is no longer apolitical.
But beyond individual tendencies based on the political ideology of the party which appointed them, the U.S. Supreme Court still maintained a tight-lipped approach. Leaking opinions or pending judgments was deemed unconscionable.
Certainly, this same rigid policy was stressed to each law clerk who was afforded the honor of working for the “the Highest Court in the Land.” But all of that went out the window with one dunderheaded error in judgment.
Someone, almost assuredly one of the dozen clerks working for the four liberal justices, leaked a pending 98-page draft from Justice Samuel Alito. It was the draft of a decision in a Mississippi abortion case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health.
The decision will have a profound effect on one of the most contentious debates in American society. Leaking this document was immoral and unconscionable. There have been as many reasons offered for how or why the leak happened, and who leaked it.
One theory says it was a conservative-minded staff member trying to lock down the vote of the conservative justices. That seems highly unlikely. The most prevalent theory is that the leaker was an individual who wanted to make the conservative SCOTUS justices nervous.
Regardless, it was an unthinkable act. Nevertheless, right on cue, the liberal left is losing their collective minds. The response from the progressive hard-left clearly lends credence to the possibility that someone outside the purview of the court orchestrated this leak.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is pushing for legislation to codify Roe v. Wade. This is a knee-jerk reaction to a national debate that is evenly divided among Americans. “Bolshevik Bernie” Sanders has rekindled the crazy notion to blow up the Senate filibuster.
This is another overreaching reaction to some liberal university-indoctrinated law clerk leaking a sensitive Supreme Court document. Wacko New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez added more senseless rhetoric.
AOC tweeted, “to codify Roe, hold corruption accountable, and have a President who uses his legal authority to break through Congressional gridlock on items from student debt to climate.” It’s implausible to believe a clerk for a conservative Supreme Court Justice is responsible.
A product of a radicalized liberal education committed this heinous crime. When they were a student, a self-righteous, far-left professor stuffed ideas like these in this person’s head. And just like this blatant example of mindless ignorance, all the left-wing liberals are losing their minds.
