Graham Platner Ripped Apart by Purple Heart Hero Over Malicious Slander

There is a sacred compact in this country between the men and women who wear the uniform and the nation that sends them into harm’s way. They sacrifice their bodies, their peace of mind, sometimes their lives. We owe them something that costs us absolutely nothing: basic human respect. When someone can’t manage even that, it tells you everything you need to know about their character.

Yet in today’s Democrat Party, no act seems vile enough to disqualify a candidate. No post too disgusting, no comment too deranged. The party that lectures the rest of us about decency will apparently tolerate anything if the alternative is losing a Senate seat. The latest evidence comes out of Maine’s 2026 Senate race, and it is stomach-turning.

From The Daily Wire:

A decorated U.S. Army combat veteran took to the pages of The Wall Street Journal on Thursday to deliver a thunderous beatdown to Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner, exposing the presumptive nominee as a keyboard coward who rooted for the Taliban to kill American soldiers.

Purple Heart recipient Teddy Daniels eviscerated Platner, calling him an “entitled brat” and an elitist phony who pretends to be a working-class champion while secretly harboring deep contempt for blue-collar Americans.

Read that again. Rooted for the Taliban. Over an American soldier.

The story revolves around helmet-cam footage from 2012 showing Daniels absorbing four bullets during a Taliban ambush in Afghanistan. Platner, posting anonymously on Reddit under the handle “P-Hustle,” watched a wounded American bleed and typed this: “This video never gets old. Dumb motherf***er didn’t deserve to live.” He called Daniels a “mouthbreather” and credited only “poor marksmanship on the Taliban’s part” for the soldier’s survival.

A man now running for the United States Senate sided with the enemy over an American warrior who earned a Purple Heart. There’s no ambiguity here. No context that softens it.

A pattern, not a slip

Here’s the thing. If this were one reckless post from some impulsive kid, maybe — maybe — you could squint your way to forgiveness. But Platner is 41 years old. And his deleted Reddit account contained roughly 1,800 comments that paint a far uglier picture.

He described himself as a “communist” and a “socialist.” Charming. He praised Hamas military tactics. He cheered on Antifa violence and trashed law enforcement. He hurled homophobic slurs. He attacked Navy SEAL Chris Kyle — an American icon — accusing him of inflating his kill numbers. He went after Vice President JD Vance for good measure.

As Daniels put it on Fox News: “This man has cheered on Antifa. He has called for violence. He hates cops. From what I see, it’s all behind the keyboard.” Then he added the only word that truly fits: “Graham, you’re a coward.”

The manufactured man

Platner’s damage control has been almost comically bad. He released a frantic video blaming Senator Susan Collins for sending him to war because of her 2002 Iraq vote. Collins demolished that argument in about ten seconds — Platner wasn’t drafted. He voluntarily enlisted twice, well after both wars had started, and then took a paycheck from Blackwater, the controversial private military contractor. Spare us the victim routine.

Then there’s the populist costume. Daniels stripped that bare in his Wall Street Journal op-ed. Platner struts around in a Carhartt jacket playing up his “oyster farmer” credentials, but his federal financial disclosure lists exactly one client: the restaurant his mother owns. Daniels’ verdict? “Tim Walz on steroids.” Honestly, that might be kind.

For Collins, the attack on Daniels cuts deep on a personal level. Her father was a World War II veteran who earned two Purple Hearts at the Battle of the Bulge, wounded just after turning nineteen. “For him to ridicule this soldier and say that he doesn’t deserve to live is just appalling,” she told reporters. Veterans from across the country have been flooding her office with calls of outrage.

The only honorable path

The Maine primary is June 9. With Governor Janet Mills out of the race, Democrats are days away from nominating a man who cheered for the Taliban, praised Hamas, and mocked a bleeding soldier from the safety of an anonymous screen name.

Graham Platner should withdraw. Not as a political strategy. Not to save the party embarrassment. Because there are lines in American life that must hold — and siding with the enemy against your own countrymen obliterates every single one. We ask young Americans to stand in the line of fire for this nation. The absolute minimum we can demand is that those who seek to represent them in the Senate didn’t root for their deaths from behind a keyboard.

Key Takeaways

  • Senate candidate Graham Platner mocked a Purple Heart recipient and cheered for the Taliban from behind a keyboard.
  • Platner’s 1,800 deleted Reddit posts reveal a pattern of extremism, not a single mistake.
  • His fabricated working-class persona collapses under the basic scrutiny of his own financial disclosures.
  • Platner should withdraw before Maine Democrats nominate a man unfit for public office.
