CNN Investigation Forces Their President To Resign – Jeff Zucker Claims He Quit Over Undisclosed Relationship
What’s Happening:
The more America gets a look at what goes on at CNN, the more we are disturbed. It looks more like a frat house than a respected news network. In just the past year alone, top figures from the company have been caught in shocking behavior. And it’s only getting worse.
Cuomo was fired for trying to smear a victim. Another producer was kicked out over some truly shocking allegations. Toobin was gone for months over some naughty Zoom behavior. But this latest story takes the cake. The notorious head of the serpent has been cut off. And you won’t believe why.
From CNN:
CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker, the influential news executive who reshaped the iconic network, announced Wednesday morning that he has resigned from his position effective immediately…
“As part of the investigation into Chris Cuomo’s tenure at CNN, I was asked about a consensual relationship with my closest colleague, someone I have worked with for more than 20 years,” Zucker told employees in a memo. “I acknowledged the relationship evolved in recent years. I was required to disclose it when it began but I didn’t. I was wrong. As a result, I am resigning today.”
Well, this is weird. CNN’s infamous president, Jeff Zucker, is leaving the network. According to his own statement, he is resigning over a “consensual relationship” he’s had for over 20 years. Apparently, the relationship status “evolved” and he didn’t disclose it. Because of that, he is leaving.
Not sure we’re buying this line. Zucker is oddly cagey about naming the person he’s in a relationship with. But CNN outed her as Allison Gollust, his “key lieutenant.” Having a relationship with one of your employees is considered unethical. And not disclosing can have serious business and legal consequences.
But would that mean he’d have to resign? Sounds like a bit of stretch, don’t you think? Toobin was reinstated after what he did—why shouldn’t Zucker make amends and stay on?
Perhaps this isn’t the real reason he’s leaving the network? We all know CNN’s ratings are in the toilet (have been ever since 45 left office). They are getting beat by Fox News and many others. CNN shareholders aren’t too happy, I’m sure. Maybe they wanted Zucker out for a long time—and this story is just an excuse?
CNN is very bad at admitting the facts, after all. They might not want the world to know that they are canning their president, because he’s failed again and again. That might not be the case, but that sounds much more plausible than this “consensual relationship.”
I’m sure Zucker will land on his feet, though, as a high-ranking member of the DNC.
Key Takeaways:
- Jeff Zucker, president of CNN, is resigning from the company.
- Zucker claims it is over a “consensual relationship” with a co-worker.
