CNN Host Comments On Recent Ad

Vice President Kamala Harris has spent years condemning former President Trump’s border wall, calling it “useless” and even “un-American.”

Yet, in a recent twist, Harris’ 2024 campaign is now featuring the very wall she slammed in advertisements—a move that’s drawing criticism and raising eyebrows across the political spectrum. CNN’s *Erin Burnett OutFront* delved into the controversy, highlighting the blatant hypocrisy now “haunting” Harris.

Andrew Kaczynski, CNN’s KFile senior editor, discovered at least 50 instances of Harris attacking Trump’s border wall, yet her new campaign ad proudly showcases portions of it. The same wall that, in her 2019 book *The Truths We Hold*, she denounced as “a monument standing in opposition” to American values and a misuse of taxpayer money is now being used as a political prop.

In the past, she called the wall a “vanity project” and dismissed it as part of Trump’s “contrived national crisis.” But now, the wall is apparently fair game for her re-election bid.

Kaczynski noted the irony, pointing out that the wall featured in Harris’ ad was, in fact, constructed during Trump’s presidency—one of the same stretches she once criticized so fiercely. The ad even includes sections of the wall with anti-climbing plates, a feature popularized under Trump.

What’s worse? The same Harris who once stood on a moral high ground, denouncing the wall as un-American, is now using it to score political points, making it clear that the flip-flopping has gone from bad to worse. It begs the question: Does Harris stand by her principles, or is this just political convenience? The images of the wall she once railed against now serve her campaign, a contradiction that her critics—on both sides of the aisle—won’t easily forget.

This is the essence of Harris’ political career. She’s spent years telling the public one thing, only to pivot when it’s expedient. Whether it’s her positions on criminal justice reform, border security, or even her approach to Trump-era policies, Harris’ track record is one of inconsistency.

Now, with the border crisis at its worst and her leadership on the issue repeatedly criticized as ineffectual, her campaign’s newfound appreciation for Trump’s wall reeks of desperation.

While Harris once called the wall a waste of taxpayer money, she now appears to believe it’s worth featuring in her re-election campaign—proving once again that political survival often takes precedence over principles. And the American public? They’re left scratching their heads, wondering if Harris ever believed what she said in the first place.
