They say that technology will one day come to the point that it is a threat to us. The concern is that artificial intelligence (AI) will get too smart and realize that they don’t need humans and then begin to get rid of us.
There are plenty of movies depicting such a thing happening. It’s an interesting idea, but I don’t think that will ever happen to that degree. However, technology may actually be trying to kill us after all.
A 10-year-old girl was trying to play a game with her family’s Alexa device and asked for a challenge. The challenge was to touch a penny to a halfway exposed cord plugged into an electrical outlet.

“We were doing some physical challenges, like laying down and rolling over holding a shoe on your foot, from a [physical education] teacher on YouTube earlier. Bad weather outside,” she said, per BBC. “She just wanted another one.”
The so-called “penny challenge” was one of the many ill-advised dares that began circulating on TikTok over the past year.
Fire officials have warned that doing so can blow out the power to the entire building, start a fire, or even cost the participant their fingers, hands or arms.
Amazon said it had immediately updated its system to fix the “error”.
“Customer trust is at the center of everything we do and Alexa is designed to provide accurate, relevant, and helpful information to customers,” it said in a statement.
…..
Luckily the child didn’t follow through on Alexa’s dare, as her mom said she was “too smart to do something like that”.
“I was right there when it happened and we had another good conversation about not trusting anything from the internet or Alexa,” Kristin added, per CNBC.
So it seems that this challenge originated on TikTok. Let me just take a moment to highlight the fact that TikTok is POISON. There may be some entertaining things on the platform, but why should we continue to support a platform that allows stupid challenges like this to be promoted? I don’t think that I even need to go through and compile the list of the ridiculous and dangerous challenges that have been promoted on TikTok.
