The comments hit the airwaves on September 17, 2026. The silence broke fast. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed had to speak up. His campaign surrogate, Hasan Piker, told Axios that the United States is the real terrorist organization. Piker went further. He said America is worse than Al-Qaeda when you count the deaths.
“Pound for pound as far as the number of deaths, yes,” Piker said. He claimed the US has caused “tremendous terror all around the world.” El-Sayed could not let that stand. He issued a statement to Axios on Thursday. He needed to draw a line in the sand. RedState reported the story on September 17. The far-left Twitch streamer made these shocking claims during “The Axios Show.” Piker cited a missile strike in Iran as proof. He claimed it killed 140 schoolgirls. “If you’re killing 140 schoolgirls, that is an act of terror,” he said.

He tried to soften the blow later. While it is not the case that all Americans are terrorists, the reality demands we build an environment of accountability to ensure such events never recur. El-Sayed ran against Republican Mike Rogers. He had leaned on Piker for months. Now, he pushed him away.
“I do not agree with this statement [on al-Qaeda], nor do I give much weight to the statements made by a social media streamer,” El-Sayed told Axios. He shifted the focus to the economy. Michiganders face rising costs for gas, groceries, and healthcare due to the dangerous policies of Donald Trump and Mike Rogers, which I find more concerning. The same candidate faced other questions on Wednesday. He appeared on MS NOW’s “The Weeknight.”
Host Luke Russert brought up comments from Vice President JD Vance. Vance had called El-Sayed a “clown running for Senate in Michigan.” El-Sayed fired back at Vance. He called the university Vance attended a “subpar university.” He said Vance was confused about geography. “In Michigan, people aren’t talking about all these national stories,” El-Sayed said. He claimed Vance has “negative charisma.”

He argued that his name and faith do not hurt families. “They’re not raising the price of your gas. They’re not raising the price of your groceries,” he said. He blamed Trump and Rogers for the high costs. “That’s Donald Trump, that’s JD Vance, that’s people like Mike Rogers.” El-Sayed tried to act like he was done with the streamer. But the history is clear.
Piker actively campaigned for El-Sayed during the primary. They were “intricately woven” together on the trail. Now they are trying to separate. The statement came out fast. The damage control started immediately. The candidate wants to focus on gas prices and healthcare.
He wants to say his faith is not the problem. He says the other side is the one hurting families. But the words from Piker are still out there. Tremendous terror has been caused by us all around the world.
