17 States Move To Amend The Constitution – Major Step Taken To Force Term Limits, Smaller Gov’t With Convention Of States

What’s Happening:

It’s safe to say Americans all over the country are sick and tired at how Democrats are running this country. And by “running this country” we mean, running it into the ground. Democrats currently control the House, the Senate, and the White House.

And they seem only concerned with one thing: grabbing as much power as they can.

Millions of Americans are going to flood the polls this Fall to vote these goons out of power. But can more be done to limit the left’s ability to turn America into the Soviet Union? Some states think there is. So, they are taking unprecedented steps to hold the federal government in check.

From Fox News:

The Nebraska Legislature passed a resolution Jan. 28 calling on states to begin the formal process to pass constitutional amendments that would limit the federal government’s spending and jurisdiction, as well as set term limits for members of Congress…

Under Article V of the Constitution, state legislatures can bypass Congress to propose and vote on constitutional amendments through a convention of states…

It takes 34 states to call the convention and 38 states are needed to ratify an amendment. Nebraska was the 17th state – marking the half-way point – to pass such a resolution since the effort started in 2013. Wisconsin passed one the week prior.

Nebraska passed a resolution recently to join a movement to amend the U.S. Constitution. They are the seventeenth state to do so, halfway to the 34 states needed to call a constitutional convention. The goal is simple: pass an amendment that will set term limits on members of Congress and stop Biden’s runaway spending.

While this has never happened before, it is laid out in the Constitution. If enough states join together, they can bypass a corrupt Congress to pass amendments. It will take more than half though; 34 to call a convention and 38 to pass an amendment.

This sounds like a brilliant idea, but it is clearly very hard to do. You can expect liberal states, who rely on their allies in the federal government, to bail them out whenever they are in the red. Crooked Democrats in D.C. often pass massive spending bills that include hefty paydays for blue states. If these amendments pass, it will end this corrupt arrangement.

Democrats will do everything in their power to oppose this movement. It will take every last patriotic state lawmaker to make this happen. But is there a chance? We’ll have to wait and see.

Key Takeaways:

  • Seventeen states have voted to call for a constitutional convention.
  • They seek to set congressional term limits and end runaway spending.
  • It will take 34 states to call a convention and 38 to pass an amendment.
