Jan. 6 Protester Guy Reffitt Found Guilty on All Five Felony Charges After FBI Wired His Kid to Record Him in His Own Home

As we watch many of the January 6 trials unfold, we have to ask if this is real. What is happening in many of these prosecutions is something out of a third world espionage novel. These trails violate dozens of our most sacred legal tenets.

One is the right to a competent defense. The defense teams entrusted with representing many of those convicted in the January 6 sweep have been inept at best. Some have been outright buffoons.

The case of Guy Reffitt is another head-scratching example of a poorly orchestrated defense. Reffitt was just convicted on five counts in relation to his involvement on January 6, 2020. The five charges Reffitt will be sentenced on include:

• Civil disorder
• Obstruction of an official proceeding and aiding and abetting
• Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds
• Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon
• Obstruction of Justice: hindering communication through physical force or threat of physical force

No one is certain if the two most serious of these five charges were based on actual evidence. There was never any indication that a gun was found on Reffitt when he was arrested. Much of the prosecution’s case was based on recorded evidence.

This is where the case really becomes bizarre. The bulk of the DOJ’s case was based on this recorded evidence. But how they got it is astonishing. The FBI put a wire on Reffitt’s son. Then the FBI used what Reffitt was recorded saying in his own home to convict him.

This is the type of prosecutorial behavior that makes for sinister courtroom novels or happens in communist countries. These types of tricks are not a welcome strategy in the U.S. justice system. That is, unless you’re trying to railroad people.

Furthermore, Reffitt’s attorney didn’t call a single witness. Even more baffling, Reffitt didn’t testify either. It’s as if the defense team didn’t want to challenge the charges. Furthermore, there were statements from Reffitt’s own daughter that could have been used to show Reffitt’s true character.

However, she wasn’t asked to testify for either the prosecution or the defense. Actually, the DOJ decided not to follow through with calling the underage girl to the stand. Many believe the prosecution avoided using her because of what they knew she would say.

When you hear what Peyton Reffitt told the Gateway Pundit outside the courtroom, you’ll understand why. Reffitt said, “I never felt threatened by my father.” The young girl went on to say in the short interview, “It hurts me so much that they are saying that.”

“My dad has never touched us once in our lives.” Peyton went on to say, “The only way he disciplined us was through yelling and sometimes even pretending he was mad. He was beaten by his dad as a kid and is against that – he would never hurt us.”

This is just one of many strange outcomes resulting from the dozens of January 6 prosecutions. None of these individuals is receiving anything close to fair and impartial justice. It’s appalling. But why is it being allowed to happen?

It’s because the more convictions the DOJ can generate, the worse they make things look to the American people. The January 6 process is a sham. However, as a miscarriage of justice, it should be even more alarming.
