Reps. Jamaal Bowman and Marjorie Taylor Greene got into a shouting match outside the Capitol on Tuesday. Here’s a gist of what was going on:
“Expel him. Save the party. Your party’s hanging by a thread!” Bowman demanded of Greene, referencing recently-indicted Rep. George Santos (R-NY).
“We gotta get rid of Biden,” Greene countered. “Save the country!”
“Your party’s hanging by a thread!” Bowman continued to shout.
“Impeach Biden. Impeach Biden! Impeach Biden!” was Greene’s response.
“You gotta save the party. Listen, no more QAnon, no more MAGA,” Bowman broadened his attack.
“No more CNN,” said Greene.
“No more debt ceiling nonsense. Come on, now!” Bowman kept shouting — and Greene continued to push back before turning away.
It’s a this point that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) enters into the fray and says:
“She ain’t worth it, bro,” Ocasio-Cortez said while walking up to Bowman.
“Save the party!” Bowman continued to shout at Greene.
“She ain’t worth it, bro. She ain’t worth it,” Ocasio-Cortez kept repeating.
Just prior to this middle school exchange, Bowman had been heckling Santos on the Capitol steps, demanding that he resign after a Democratic attempt to oust him from Congress was delayed. Republicans instead voted to kick the resolution to expel the embattled freshman congressman to the House Ethics Committee.
So Bowman took to shouting, “You gotta resign, bro!” He was joined in his heckling by AOC.
Santos has repeatedly refused to resign, even after he was indicted last week by the Justice Department on 13 counts that included – among other things — wire fraud, illegal financial transactions, lying on financial disclosures, and stealing public funds for his own personal use.
He was also accused of using campaign funds to pay for luxury items and designer clothing and to pay off his personal credit cards.
The whole scene is a picture of the mess we have in D.C., take a look for yourself:
