You’d think that after two assassination attempts on Donald Trump, the media might finally tone down the rhetoric and report the facts. But instead, MSNBC’s Joy Reid, during her latest episode of ReidOut, did what the left does best: distort the truth and twist narratives to fit their political agenda.
Reid went on air and flat-out lied to her viewers by claiming that both of the would-be assassins targeting Trump were “white, American, Trump-supporting men with guns.” It’s almost like they’re not even trying to hide their bias anymore.
Let’s be clear: Ryan Wesley Routh, the gunman arrested after the second attempt on Trump’s life at his Florida golf course, was no Trump supporter. In fact, Routh is the very opposite—an unhinged leftist who despised Trump, proudly supported Kamala Harris, and was radicalized by his obsession with Ukraine.
His truck was plastered with a Biden-Harris sticker, and he even wrote a book calling for the assassination of Trump. Yet, according to Joy Reid, this man somehow morphs into a “Trump-supporting” gunman. The truth is inconvenient for Reid and her ilk, so they rewrite it as they see fit.
Reid didn’t stop there. She also dragged in JD Vance, making a bizarre connection between his campaign and Trump’s alleged “distraction” over migrants supposedly eating pets in Springfield, Ohio. That narrative, too, is a blatant attempt to deflect from the real issues at hand: the left’s failure to address their own dangerous rhetoric, which seems to inspire violence from extremists like Routh.
Here’s the kicker: Reid ends her rant by once again hammering home the idea that Trump is stirring up violence, while conveniently ignoring the obvious. Both attempts on Trump’s life have come from individuals with clear left-wing sympathies, not “Trump-supporting men with guns.”
But in the left’s twisted worldview, the facts don’t matter. All they care about is pushing the narrative that Trump and his supporters are the real threat, no matter how many lies they have to tell to keep it alive.
The left has a serious problem taking responsibility for the toxic climate they’ve helped create. Every day, Trump is demonized by media figures and politicians as a threat to democracy, and it’s no surprise that weak minds like Routh and others take those words and turn them into violent actions.
But instead of owning up to the damage their words cause, people like Joy Reid deflect, distract, and keep spinning the lie that somehow this is all Trump’s fault.
