Newsom Actually Said This About the 2nd Amendment – Watch

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom is becoming known for some wacky statements in the past, and he’s back at it again this week.

Gov. Newsom was interviewing CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell. He actually made the statement that the 2nd Amendment is. “Suicide pact.”

This statement came in the context of 11 people being shot to death and almost a dozen more hospitalized after a 72-year-old man opened fire in Monterey Park on Saturday.

The chaos began following a Chinese New Year dance festival at approximately 10:22 pm at a ballroom dance studio. The suspected shooter, Huu Can Tran, then drove to a second location when a bystander intervened and disarmed him.

Newsom was angry when he was talking to O’Donnell, “Nothing about this is surprising,” Newsom told CBS News. “Everything about this is infuriating.”

O’Donnell declared that California had some of the most strict gun control laws in the country. That’s when Newsom just focused on the Second Amendment, which gives the American people the right to bear arms.

“I mean, the Second Amendment is becoming a suicide pact,” Newsom said.

O’Donnell sounded surprised at Newsom’s extreme words.

“But there’s many people in this country that support the Second Amendment and are lawful gun owners,” O’Donnell pushed back.

That must have cleared the fog in Newsom’s mind for a moment or two because he then replied, “Yeah, I have great respect — I have no ideological opposition to someone who is reasonably and responsibly owning firearms and getting background checks and being trained.”

Newsom probably isn’t done and we are likely to hear more criticism against the Second Amendment. There were four more people who were killed on Monday night in another shooting at a mushroom farm in San Mateo County of California. The gunman drove to another location on another farm and killed three more people at the nearby trucking facility.
