Fetterman Calls Out Newsom’s Cowardice in Potential Presidential Run

In the ever-evolving political landscape, tensions within the Democratic Party have reached new heights as the 2024 presidential election looms on the horizon. Senator John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, recently took a direct jab at California Governor Gavin Newsom, hinting at suspicions of a shadow campaign for the White House. While Newsom publicly declares his support for Joe Biden’s potential reelection bid with Kamala Harris, Fetterman suggests that Newsom lacks the “guts” to officially announce his own presidential ambitions.

During a recent event in Iowa, Senator John Fetterman didn’t mince words when addressing Governor Gavin Newsom’s alleged presidential aspirations. Fetterman pointed out that while two additional Democrats are currently running for president, only one has the audacity to openly declare it. The other Democrat mentioned by Fetterman is Representative Dean Phillips from Minnesota, who announced a primary challenge against Biden last month, advocating for a “new generation of American leaders” to take the reins of the party.

Despite Governor Newsom’s claims of deferring to Biden’s re-election bid, his actions and statements have fueled speculation about his own political ambitions. Newsom’s travels to Israel and China, along with his agreement to debate Republican Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, who is vying for the GOP presidential nomination, have raised eyebrows. Additionally, Newsom recently made a playful comment about how he wished he were president to better handle foreign affairs. These moves have left many wondering whether Newsom is subtly positioning himself for a future presidential run.

In the backdrop of these developments, some supporters of Biden have called on him to consider stepping aside. Factors such as low approval ratings, unfavorable polling against former President Donald Trump in hypothetical rematches, and concerns about his fitness to continue serving as commander-in-chief at the age of 80 have prompted discussions about whether Biden should seek re-election. While Newsom has dismissed the notion of running against Harris, these discussions add fuel to the speculation surrounding his potential presidential bid.
