DeSantis Takes Another Swing at Trump with Big Claim

Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis took a swing at former President Donald Trump, accusing him of failing to deliver on his promises. The sensational revelation was made during an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham.

DeSantis, who is currently second in the national polls, criticized Trump for his absence from the upcoming GOP primary debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California. The audacious Florida governor boldly stated, “I think it’s interesting that he is not willing to stand on that stage.”

DeSantis went on to add that Trump owes it to the voters to show up, defend his record, and articulate his future plans. He emphasized that Trump should also explain what he might do differently, clearly signaling that the former president’s past performance leaves room for improvement.

Trump’s 2016 campaign promises were put under the microscope by DeSantis, who pointed out several instances where Trump failed to deliver. “He said he was going to drain the swamp. They didn’t drain the swamp at all. He still defends hiring Christopher Wray, he didn’t fire Wray. He didn’t fire Fauci. He said Mexico was gonna pay for the border wall. That didn’t happen,” DeSantis remarked.

DeSantis didn’t stop there. He also highlighted Trump’s promise to eliminate the national debt, which instead saw an increase of almost a trillion dollars during his term. Additionally, Trump’s promise to appoint a special counsel for Hillary Clinton was brought up, with DeSantis noting how Trump conveniently forgot about it after the election.

Trump, who announced in August that he wouldn’t be attending any of the Republican debates, has cited voters’ familiarity with his record and his commanding lead in the national polls as the reasons for his decision. Instead of participating in the debate, Trump plans to meet with striking autoworkers from the United Auto Workers union in Detroit, Michigan.

DeSantis’ bold criticism of Trump signals a significant shift in the political landscape. The Florida governor’s willingness to hold Trump accountable sets a new standard for the GOP and its future leaders. It remains to be seen how this will impact the upcoming elections and the dynamics within the Republican Party.
