There is a peculiar insanity running through American universities that would seem like a funny joke if it were not so surreal and alarming.
I’m talking about the ever-increasing list of “oppressive” words that are not allowed to be used on some of these campuses. Let’s call it “the woke language list of forbidden words.” On many of these campuses Freshmen, oops, (can’t use that word anymore), are required to attend orientation (read indoctrination) sessions at the beginning of the year. At these sessions the new students are told how to talk, what words are “microaggressive” and can no longer be used.
Really?? Yes, really.
So what are some of these words that are so dangerous to our wimpy selves and make us feel unsafe?
Picnic. You guys. Insane. Tribe. Mentally ill. Lame. Male. Female. Ladies and Gentlemen. Grandfathered in.
Who dreams this stuff up? And what happened to one of our founding tenets, that of Freedom of Speech?
While I’m sure there are those in our country who set out to be hostile, most of us are nice, and courteous. Most of us do not set out to make someone feel oppressed or in danger. Even in an ever-increasingly secular society I believe the majority of us have buried deep inside our psyche the desire to be nice. We really don’t need our vocabulary dictated to us by the progressive left. We can figure out on our own what is not kind.

Just in case you have not figured out where the woke campus governments are taking us here it is. Socialism. That is the answer to all our woes, remember. Our government is going to be the one government in the world for all of history that will “get it right”. Yeah. Please don’t believe it.
What lists of banned words and phrases do is to completely dispose of our diversity of thought. Read Animal Farm people. We are being told a new way to talk and from there, think. We are being dumbed down so we don’t question what is going on at the top (read China).
One of the insidious results of this indoctrination is that actual offenses are being watered down. The progressives call this language “bigotry”. Guess what, there is real, actual, evil bigotry out there. Anti-semitism, anti-Christian, elitism, that is just grouped together with these “micro-aggressions”. Things that actually need real attention are not going to get it if they are lumped in with stupidity and wimpyness. Yes, wimps.
What I want to say to all these people who need “safe spaces” on college campuses and need new language that “doesn’t hurt” their precious feelings is “grow the blank up”. Put on your big girl (oops) panties and deal. It’s the big, wide world, not a soft comfy couch. Get over it.
