Make no mistake about it. Cam Newton is an exceptionally talented football player. Most football fans have witnessed his trademark touchdown celebration. Newton clutches his fists to his chest, grasping at the middle of a fictitious shirt.
He then acts as if he is ripping open the shirt to reveal a hidden revelation. Yes, superhero fans; this is the same expression of indestructibleness used by the iconic Superman. While “Super Cam” isn’t indestructible, he clearly feels, in some sense, that he’s a super special dude.
Again, Newton is an exceptional talent. As well, playing professional football requires an immense amount of self-confidence. Nevertheless, there are players like the LA Rams’ Cooper Kupp who present more of a humble, businesslike approach.
Nonetheless, the pro football players with the most outlandish celebratory self-proclamations frequently suffer from more egotistical tendencies. What fans witness on the field doesn’t always express the personal views of a few of these ultra-gifted athletes.
Frequently, these revelations only come to light when they speak publicly. This happened in a recent interview the current free-agent Newton gave during a broadcast of Barstool Sports’ “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast.
Many personal opinions and viewpoints don’t immediately impact a player’s viable usefulness to a team. This is especially true when the talent level is astronomical. It’s common for NFL teams to ignore a player’s minor social peculiarities if they can produce results on the field.
But that’s not the current status quo for Cam Newton. Newton is an aging professional football quarterback without a home. One would think, especially in light of his recent drop in productivity, the former Super Bowl quarterback would censor his off-the-cuff comments.
During the podcast, Newton was talking about his family life. He said, “I grew up in a three-parent household. My mom, my father, and my grandmother. And I knew what a woman was, not a bad b**ch.” Newton would eventually explain what he meant by a “bad b**ch.”
That comment certainly grabbed listeners’ attention. However, Newton wasn’t finished. When he was asked, “what’s the difference?” Newton stepped across the line. The quarterback, in search of a team, complained about women who “can’t cook” and “don’t know when to be quiet.”

Ouch. That’s not a good public relations look for an athlete who is currently without a contract. In layman’s terms, Cam Newton is presently out of a job. These types of comments wouldn’t seem to endear him to the gender equity-focused National Football League.
What’s more astonishing is that the former first-round draft pick didn’t stop there. He got worse. In his remarks, Newton used the term “bad b**ch” a half-dozen more times. He ended one series of chauvinistic comments with another perceived reference to male superiority.
“I’m a boss b**ch, I’m a this, I’m a that. No, baby. But you can’t cook. You don’t know when to be quiet. You don’t know how to allow a man to lead,” Newton blasted. But this isn’t the first time Cam Newton has been exposed for having a sexist mentality.
Back in 2017, Newton answered a question from Carolina Panthers’ beat reporter Jourdan Rodrigue with an oddly bigoted response. Rodrigue asked a question about one of Newton’s receivers’ route-running prowess.
Newton’s reply expressed surprise that Rodrigue, a woman, knew anything about football. He reacted, “It’s funny to hear a female talking about routes.” These comments are years apart. However, they indicate an obvious viewpoint that Cam Newton has about women.
Professional football players are invariably confident athletes. Nonetheless, their confidence doesn’t require that they demean others. It would be shocking to hear someone like Tom Brady make such disparaging comments. The vast majority of professional athletes would not.
But Cam Newton does. Despite being portrayed as an excellent father to his children, Newton has never been married. Maybe there are some reasons why. “Super Cam” also doesn’t have a current NFL contract, either. Maybe there are reasons for that as well.
