Texas Supreme Court Strikes Down Federal Lawsuit – They Just Protected The Lone Star State’s New Ban
What’s Happening:
Ever since Joe Biden entered office, the state of Texas has been a thorn in his side. As Biden and the Democrats pushed radical, far-left policies, Texas has fought back. The conservative state refuses to bow the knee to Biden’s agenda.
In recent years, they’ve passed laws that directly oppose Democrats’ plans, including a bill that provides constitutional carry for all law-abiding citizens.
But another law really sent the left reeling. It shut down their most precious agenda. The situation is currently being decided at the U.S. Supreme Court. But leftists have tried to undermine Texas law through lawsuits of their own. But the state’s Supreme Court just shut them down.
From Politico:
Texas’ Supreme Court appeared to slam the door Friday on a federal lawsuit abortion providers in the state have pursued for months in a bid to have the state’s unusual privately-enforced abortion ban declared unconstitutional.
The unanimous ruling from Texas’ highest court cuts off, for now, abortion rights advocates’ ability to use federal courts to halt enforcement of the law that went into effect in September and allows private citizens to sue abortion providers and anyone who helps a patient access the procedure after six weeks of pregnancy.
The Texas Supreme Court prevented abortion providers from using federal courts to undermine or reverse the state’s recent pro-life law. That law, as well as a law from Mississippi, is being decided by the U.S. Supreme Court. But the SCOTUS refused to shut down Texas’s abortion ban, letting it go into effect in September 2021.
Since then, pro-choice advocates have tried to shut down the law, relying on lawsuits filed through federal courts. The state’s highest court cut off that move, depriving the left of one more method to protect their golden goose.
The Texas law allows private citizens to sue over an abortion. It does not put doctors in jail, nor do it penalize a woman. Yet the left, eager to make abortion-on-demand law nationwide, hates any attempts to protect unborn children. They fight tooth and nail to prevent any restrictions on abortions.
It’s no secret major abortion providers like Planned Parenthood funnel millions of dollars into Democrat election campaigns. The left’s love of this practice might be fueled more by their desire for that cash than any attempts to “protect” women’s rights. The fate of this particular law will be decided as early as Spring.
Key Takeaways:
- The Texas Supreme Court shut down leftist attempts to block its pro-life law.
- The court denied activists from using federal courts to undermine the law.
- The law, and one from Mississippi, is being decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.
